MULTAN: The Secretary for Housing and Urban Development in South Punjab, Asif Chaudhary, has issued an order to take action against 700 individuals who have been illegally using their residential properties for commercial purposes.
The Additional Secretary for Housing, Rana Akhlaaq, emphasized during a meeting on Tuesday that such activities are a form of tax evasion as it allows individuals to avoid paying additional taxes and commercial fees that are required for commercial properties.
The operation to enforce the order is expected to commence soon and all defaulters will be required to pay the unpaid taxes, he added.
During the meeting, it was reported that a total of Rs. 7.5 million was recovered from defaulters in a single month, demonstrating the government’s commitment to cracking down on such activities.
