KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Mohammad Iqbal Memon has announced that Karachi would receive 4 additional Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines within 12 to 18 months.
This new BRT system is said to be a part of a large infrastructure project in Karachi.
In a meeting with the members of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce, the commissioner said that the authorities had invested their efforts in the restoration of roads to make them safer for passengers.
He also agreed with the recommendation of the FPCCI that a liaison committee composed of business leaders and local officials should be formed.
In addition to this, he added that the business community played a vital role in improving the city, increasing its significance as the country’s economic center.
It is important to note that, Karachi has been deeply affected by the recent rainfalls, destroying the city’s infrastructure.
However, the govt has launched some projects to enhance commuting and improve the city’s overall infrastructure.
Red and Green Line Bus Services have been launched while the Karachi Circular Railway Project and a few other projects are underway.
It is important to note that Former Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the Green Line BRT service in Karachi in December 2021.
