Key Development Initiatives Approved in CDWP Meeting

ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) met on Tuesday and cleared 15 development projects with a total worth of Rs 249.21 billion.

As per the details, these projects cover various sectors including housing, health services, communication, power, and railways.

One of the major recommendations made by the CDWP is the approval of the Umbrella PC-1 of the Flood Protection Sector Project-III (FPSP-III)-Updated, valued at Rs. 194.6 billion.

The project, sponsored by the Ministry of Water Resources, aims to improve comprehensive flood management approaches across the country through structural and non-structural interventions proposed under the National Flood Protection Plan (NFPP-IV).

Moreover, the project targets the reduction of flood losses, the protection of urban and rural areas, and the enhancement of flood forecasting capabilities.

Additionally, the CDWP recommended the revised Sehat Sahulat Program, costing Rs. 31.93 billion, to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).

Other approved projects include the construction of an interchange on Hazara Motorway, the development package for D.I. Khan Road, the construction of a railway underpass in Gojra, and the rehabilitation and construction of various facilities.

Additionally, the meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Planning Development & Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal and attended by key officials from the Planning Ministry, the Chief Economist, Members of the Planning Commission, and representatives from relevant ministries and divisions.
