Korang Bridge is Expected to Complete by Year’s End: Interior Minister

ISLAMABAD: The delayed Korang Bridge expansion project is currently under construction and is expected to complete by the end of December, says Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah in Senate.

In response to a query from Senator Fawzia Arshad, Mr. Sanaullah acknowledged that the Korang Bridge project had been delayed and predicted that it would take an additional four months to complete.

The project wasn’t finished in the allotted 15 months, according to the interior minister, who also noted that the private contractor slowed down work as a result of an unprecedented price increase in the construction materials.

Later, the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) was given the contract with a four-month completion window and no-cost change.

The expressway is one of the city’s busiest roads, serving both local and heavy traffic, particularly to and from Lahore. The road connects Punjab, Azad Kashmir, the Northern Areas, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

It is relevant to note here that over the last two decades, several housing societies have popped up along the expressway, contributing to an increase in traffic load.
