PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved PKR 7 billion for the Swat Motorway Phase-2 project.
As part of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the government disbursed the funds.
According to the information, the government has made a PKR 14 billion contribution to the project’s early completion.
According to the deal, the private company would construct the road project costing PKR 38 billion on a 60:40 basis, investing PKR 24 billion with the provincial government pitching in the remaining PKR 16 billion.
It is also mentioned in the agreement that the company would use the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model to construct the project.
The company will manage the project for 30 years, with the government receiving 10% of toll plaza revenue after the first 11 years.
It is critical to highlight that the KP government has halted the existing development projects, citing the country’s current flood situation, and has said that funding would be diverted to restoration and recovery activities.
