LDA’s Walk & Shop Arena Set to Open After 2-Year Delay

LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has announced that its Walk & Shop Arena near Mian Plaza, Main Boulevard, Johar Town, is set to open next month after a two-year delay.

LDA has been instructed by the government to auction the shops, malls, restaurants, and other facilities, and the project is expected to become a significant source of income for the government and businesses in the area.

The details suggest that the arena is set to become a major shopping and eating facility for the general public.

According to a senior LDA official, the project was launched in 2018 but construction was halted when the new government came into power. However, construction resumed in 2021 and was completed last year.

The project covers an area of 130 Kanal, with various architectural themes including Mughal, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, and American.

Moreover, the Walk & Shop Arena features an amusement park over 15 Kanal, an amphitheater, water channels, pergolas, a music kiosk, a flower fair, food kiosks, toddlers and kids’ playgrounds, mini golf, terror house, virtual reality, kids’ carousel, Ferris wheel, joy rides, and wall climbing.

It also has a mega shopping mall, restaurants, shops, streets, courtyards, sitting areas, and a parking facility for 500 vehicles and 500 motorcycles/cycles.

Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the LDA DG/Commissioner, said the project was built on the private sector model and is a state-of-the-art shopping arena in the city.

The LDA team is now tasked with floating the project for auction next month, with investors urged to take advantage of the opportunity.
