LHC Orders Punjab Govt to Ensure Completion of Development Projects in Murree

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench has directed the Punjab caretaker government and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to ensure the completion of development schemes in Murree, which were approved or funded by the government.

The court’s decision came after a petition filed by two Murree residents, Sajid Abbasi, and Saad Siraj, who claimed that the caretaker government had frozen development funds for Murree that were earlier released by the previous PTI government.

LHC Rawalpindi Bench Justice Sultan Tanvir, who presided over the case, observed that no development project in Murree should be stopped and directed the ECP and concerned authorities to remove all hurdles in the completion of development projects in the hill resort.

The court disposed of the petition by ordering the authorities to ensure that all development projects in Murree are completed according to the law.

Besides, the decision of LHC is expected to provide relief to the residents of Murree who were concerned about the development of the hill resort.
