LAHORE: The local government has approved the master plan for the Lahore Old Walled City.
As per the details, the master plan includes the restoration of old bazaars, the reconstruction of 12 gates, and also the restoration of the residences of historic public figures.
According to the local government Secretary, Mubashir Hussain, the purpose of this project is to improve the infrastructure and preserve the original form of Old Lahore.
The masterplan has been approved by the local government secretary and following are some of the projects included in the masterplan.
- Restoration of 200 bazaars
- Restoration of residences of the literary persons
- Development of tourist centers and tourism corridors
It is important to mention that the project will be developed with joint efforts of the following:
- LDA
- Local Government
- Punjab Housing Department
- Lahore Urban Unit
- Punjab Tourism Department
- Punjab Archaeology Department
- Parks and Horticulture Authority
- Environment Protection Authority
