MCCI to Upgrade Status of Mohmand Economic Zone as Special Economic Zone

PESHAWAR: The Mohmand Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) has called for the Mohmand Economic Zone to be given the designation of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) with a 10-year tax holiday status.

According to the details, the suggestion came during an emergency meeting, presided over by President MCCI,  Khawaja Abdul Qadoos.

Furthermore, the meeting also examined issues confronting the business community in Mohmand Economic Zone and district Mohmand, as well as presented solutions for their resolution.

In his address to the meeting, MCCI President Khawaja Abdul Qadoos stated that elevating Mohmand Economic Zone to the status of a special economic zone was the responsibility of both the federal and provincial governments, which would bring prosperity to the region.

The officials also demanded that a location be designated where protest demonstrations and sit-ins could be held without interfering with commercial activity and traffic flow.

Besides, tough judicial action against individuals who made inciting remarks and damaged public property was suggested to promote peace and harmony.

Coordinator FPCCI, Sartaj Ahmad Khan, Senior Vice President Mohmand Chamber, Asad Samin, Vice President, executive members, and other business leaders attended the meeting.
