The government is set to roll out the reshaped Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar (MPMG) scheme as early as the next week, according to Ministry of Finance.
“The Finance Division and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) are currently working on reshaping the scheme and it will be rolled out within a week,” the Ministry of Finance announcement said.
“It is assured that the investments already made by the general public through the scheme remain protected,” it added.
As for the applicants who had deposited token amounts with sellers in pursuit of homes under the MPMG Scheme, SBP had clarified that “a line of action will be finalized in consultation with the government.”
The low-cost housing finance scheme was temporarily put on hold for two months “due to changed market conditions and for better targeting.”
Banks were directed stop further disbursements from July 1 till Aug 31. But customers with approved cases, who had received partial amounts of their financing, we assured of continued financing as per their agreements.
