RAWALPINDI: Government officials, including Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaquat Ali Chatha, Minister for Housing and Urban Development (Punjab) Syed Azfar Ali, and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Muhammad Tanvir, inspected the ongoing desilting work of Nullah Leh at the Gawalmandi bridge site on Thursday.

During the briefing, the Managing Director of WASA stated that the clearing and cleaning of Nullah Leh, from New Katariyan to Murree Road, would be completed by June 30.

He emphasized that a comprehensive strategy is in place to clean sewerage lines and repair manholes throughout the city.

The managing director further stated that the Punjab government has allocated funds for clearing and cleaning all major Nullahs in the city.

He claimed that the tendering process is underway, and physical work will commence soon. The cleaning of Nullah Leh is being prioritized, and the goal is to complete it before June 30.

In a significant development, modern machinery is being utilized by WASA for the clearing and cleaning of Nullah Leh, marking a first in the agency’s history.
