NAB Closes Punjab University Town-III Investigation

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has wrapped up its investigation into the Punjab University Town-III affairs.

The bureau has advised both the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and the university’s vice-chancellor to take appropriate actions about plot transfers to legitimate allottees.

In a letter addressed to the LDA and the PU VC, NAB stated that the complaints against Mian Javed, the owner and developer of Punjab University Town-III (Jamiat Town), Raiwind Road Lahore, and others had been under review at the bureau.

The letter stated that the housing scheme in question has been merged with the Soul City project owned by M/s Marwa Developers.

Furthermore, the allottees of PU Town-III have been accommodated in Soul City without incurring any additional costs, aside from the transfer of the original housing scheme’s land measuring 940 kanal in Mauza Jia Bagga to M/s Marwa Developers.

Following thorough examination and due consideration, the competent authority has decided to close the matter at the NAB’s end.

While NAB’s inquiry concludes, the bureau has urged the Director-General of LDA to initiate appropriate action according to relevant legal provisions.

The aim is to safeguard the interests of the allottees, ensuring the timely completion of development and the delivery of plots to the legitimate recipients of PU Town-III.

Moreover. the NAB has also directed the PU VC to take suitable action, maintain follow-up, and coordinate with LDA to ensure the punctual completion of development and plot delivery.

Prof. Fakhrul Haq Noori, the chairman of the Management Committee, and Prof. Muhammad Azhar Naeem, the president of PU-ASA, have expressed optimism regarding the project’s acceleration.

They also believed that the long-awaited rights of the community would be realized sooner with this progress.

Notably, the management committee is under scrutiny for initiating the project without PU syndicate approval.

It is relevant to note that the allegations have arisen that the land acquired under the committee members’ names was unauthorized, as no NoC from LDA and other relevant departments had been obtained when the project was launched back in 2016.
