NAB Revives Investigation into Peshawar BRT Project

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has resumed its investigation into the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Peshawar and has issued notices to officials of the project management unit.

The investigation, which had been stalled for several years, has been reinitiated by the Bureau.

Notices have been sent to every official involved in the construction of the BRT, including the directors of each reach and Project Management Unit employees, instructing them to submit their written responses to NAB.

The officers in question have received the notices from NAB’s Peshawar office and have been directed to submit their written responses.

NAB has reopened the case, indicating that the investigation into the Peshawar BRT project is gaining momentum once again, and significant developments may occur in the coming days.

It is worth noting that the Supreme Court had ordered to halt investigations into the alleged corruption in the Peshawar BRT project in 2020 after the outgoing PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa appealed against the Peshawar High Court’s verdict.

Nevertheless, NAB has reopened the case, and it appears that the investigation into the Peshawar BRT project is gaining traction once again. Further updates on this story are expected soon.
