ISLAMABAD: The Executive Board of the National Highway Authority (NHA) has approved the awarding of a project for the dualization and enhancement of the N-50 highway from Yarik to Sagu to Zhob.
The cost of this project was 26.67% higher than the initial estimate of 18.029 billion rupees.
As per the details, the board urged the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council to approve the revised budget of 81.310 billion rupees for the project.
The board also decided to discontinue the practice of creating comprehensive project budgets (PC-I).
Additionally, the Road Asset Management Division is in the process of creating the annual maintenance plan for the fiscal year 2022-2023.
Stakeholder consultations have been arranged in Lahore and Karachi as per the Road Maintenance Account rules.
It is important to note that the board unanimously approved the load restrictions outlined in the National Highway Safety Ordinance 2000’s Schedule VI.
The board instructed the relevant offices to launch an immediate awareness campaign to educate road users.
