ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has issued a deadline for the owners of old buildings in Islamabad to construct emergency stairs within six months.
According to the sources, strict instructions have been issued with legal action to be taken against non-compliant building owners.
At a meeting with housing societies and high-rise building owners, the Chairman of the CDA emphasized the need for emergency stairs outside buildings with four floors or higher.
Furthermore, the Chairman also urged new buildings to be constructed with emergency routes and open spaces for front and back parking.
Besides, the CDA has also set up an express counter for a one-day transfer of property to assist developers.
Additionally, the Chairman called for design vetting committee meetings to be held every week, rather than fortnightly.
While the CDA has certain responsibilities and rules, adherence to these rules is essential for building owners, the chairman noted.
