ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has launched its digital housing and population census today, which will continue until March 3.
According to details, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has announced that for the first time in the country’s history, the census will be conducted entirely digitally, without the use of pen and paper.
Instead, citizens will register their family and home details through registered mobile devices.
Trained staff and the statistics agency will use tablets to feed the data collected during the census.

Additionally, the door-to-door census is set to begin on March 1 and will continue until April 1.
Earlier, the PBS had delayed the seventh digital housing and population census for a month due to “unavoidable circumstances”.
Furthermore, the digital census is expected to provide more accurate and timely data, which will help the government make informed policy decisions regarding education, health, and infrastructure development.
