ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is set to move forward with the tender process for outsourcing the management of Islamabad Airport.
The decision came after consultations with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), as part of the country’s efforts to bolster foreign exchange reserves amid its economic challenges.
In March, Pakistan initiated the outsourcing of operations at three major airports, with Islamabad Airport being the first to be affected.
Furthermore, the move aims to enhance service delivery in line with international industry standards.
The Ministry of Finance released a statement stating that the decision to proceed with the outsourcing of operations at Islamabad airport was unanimously agreed upon, indicating a collective commitment to improving airport services.
Additionally, Pakistani officials have been in discussions with Qatar regarding a joint venture to manage the terminals at Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore airports.
It is worth noting that the Qatar Investment Authority has pledged to invest $3 billion in Pakistan following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Doha late last year.
