PESHAWAR: The Elected representatives and concerned parents of female students from the Chamkani area have issued a stern warning to the Education Department authorities.
They demanded the prompt resolution of the persistent issue surrounding the Government Girls Primary School No. 1 in Chamkani.
The protestors warned that if the matter is not addressed promptly, they are prepared to take their daughters to the Directorate of Education, insisting on arranging classes there.
Several local community leaders, including former District Council member Khalid Waqas Chamkani, Village Council chairmen Haji Usman Ali, Fazal Amin, Saqib Aftab, along with representatives from Chamkani Welfare organizations, and numerous parents of affected students, expressed their concerns during a press conference.
Government Girls Primary School No. 1 in Chamkani, established in 1940, remains without a proper building, forcing it to operate from rented premises.
Currently accommodating 400 female students, the school has faced constant relocation issues, primarily due to unpaid rent.
One parent voiced their concern, stating, “The authorities concerned have not paid the rent of the current building of the school for several months due to which the property owner has locked the building during the ongoing summer vacation.”
With the school’s reopening scheduled for September 4 following the summer break, students and parents are left uncertain about where classes will be conducted.
They urged the relevant authorities to expedite rent payments, alleviating the distress faced by students and their families.
