PHA Plants 15,000 Saplings, Inaugurates Urban Forest at Allama Iqbal International Airport

LAHORE: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) carried out a public-private partnership program, planting 15,000 saplings.

As per the details, over 3,000 volunteers participated in the event, which marked the inauguration of the Urban Forest at Allama Iqbal International Airport.

The Director General of PHA, Muhammad Tahir Wattoo, officially planted the first sapling to open the Urban Forest.

During a media briefing, the Director General emphasized the importance of extensive plantation efforts for a healthier environment.

The PHA aims to reduce air pollution, enhance the overall environment, and beautify the city. The Urban Forest at Allama Iqbal International Airport, spanning seven acres, has been completed, and an additional 30,000 plants and trees are planned for the area.

The Director General further revealed plans to establish Urban Forests in several other parks throughout the city, including Children’s Park, Greater Iqbal Park, Shadman Park, Rahmanian Park, Nawaz Sharif Park, Shah Jamal Park, Nursery Ground Main Market, T Block Donkey Ground, LDA Sports Ground Shahdara, Jahangir Colony, Shahdara, Kashmir Cricket Ground, Minhaj Ground Sialkot Interchange, Kamahan Interchange, and Ashiana Interchange.

Approximately 10 urban forests are nearing completion in different locations, and all sites are expected to have their urban forests finalized within the next few months. Daily maintenance of the plants and trees in the urban forest is currently underway.
