PKR 6.17bn Approved for Four Lahore Highways

LAHORE: The district government approved PKR 6.17 billion budget on Thursday for the renovation, expansion, and restoration of four highways in the city.

Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi directed the administration to restore and widen four highways including the Manga Raiwind Road, the Lake City to Raiwind Road, the Raiwind Road Railway crossing to Sau-i-Asil, and Lahore Ring Road North Loop.

The four highways are expected to cost PKR 6.17 billion to construct and rehabilitate, according to Farhan Rasheed, the deputy director of development for District Lahore.

He said that a total of PKR 1.140 billion had been granted for the renovation and widening of the 10-kilometer Lake City to Raiwind Road, with an initial release of PKR 257.

He stated that PKR 2.034 billion had been made available for the repair of the Lahore Ring Road North Loop.

Mr. Rasheed went on to state that they would soon begin expanding and enlarging the road plans, providing residents with improved transit alternatives.

He promised them that the essential legal processes for the road expansion would be completed within the specified time frame.
