PM Inaugurates Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Avenue at Shehbaz Speed

ISLAMABAD: In a whirlwind of swift action that has left onlookers impressed, the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority, Noor ul Amin Mengal, took to Twitter just yesterday to announce the renaming of IJP Road.

Today, in a show of remarkable efficiency, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has already inaugurated the newly christened “Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Avenue”.

This rapid turnaround has been seen as a testament to the government’s commitment and speedy approach to infrastructure development.

However, in an amusing twist of digital fate, the Government of Pakistan’s official Twitter handle found itself in a bit of a pickle. The caption proudly heralded the “inauguration of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Avenue” (formerly IJP Road), but the image attached to the tweet told a different story. The commemorative plaque in the image boldly declared “7th Avenue”, causing a ripple of confusion among the Twitterati.

It appears that the government’s social media team is struggling to match the PMs speed.

The avenue, now named after the national hero Captain Karnal Sher Khan, has been rehabilitated and widened as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and ease traffic congestion in the capital city. The improvements are expected to enhance traffic flow and reduce travel times for commuters significantly.

However, the decision to rename the road sparked a flurry of reactions from the public. Some Twitter users raised concerns about potential damage to the road due to violations of HTV lanes by heavy traffic vehicles, emphasizing the need for traffic police to enforce rules and prevent such violations.

Others expressed skepticism about the practicality of the name change, suggesting that the general public might continue to refer to the road by its original name, IJP. Despite these concerns, the tribute to the national hero was acknowledged.

During the inaugural ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the importance of infrastructure development for the country’s progress.

He also paid tribute to Captain Karnal Sher Khan, whose bravery and sacrifice the avenue commemorates.

The inauguration has been met with mixed reactions from the public, with some expressing their appreciation for the improved infrastructure, while others raised concerns about the economic challenges facing the country.
