Punjab Caretaker Minister Stresses Quality Municipal Services for Citizens

LAHORE: Ibrahim Murad, Punjab Caretaker Local Government Minister, emphasized the government’s commitment to providing high-quality municipal services to citizens, stating that any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.

He led a meeting to review local government affairs of the provincial capital, attended by Chief Officer MCL Ali Abbas Bukhari and other officers.

The Minister directed officials to prioritize providing relief to citizens, with strict action taken against those causing inconvenience or seeking unlawful favors.

The ongoing anti-encroachment drive should continue indiscriminately in all municipal zones of the provincial capital.

Moreover, Murad also suggested cooperation from relevant departments such as LDA, WASA, and LESCO to remove obstacles for smooth traffic flow.

Besides, illegal constructions in parking areas of commercial buildings should be dismantled and restored to their original condition, said the Minister.

The Minister also directed local body chief officers to develop a comprehensive contingency plan to meet challenging situations during the upcoming monsoon season.

All machinery and equipment required to deal with emergencies should be in working order, and flood emergency cells should be established wherever necessary, he added.

In case of emergency, the Minister urged the use of all necessary resources to ensure the safety of citizens’ lives and property.

A report on all necessary arrangements for the monsoon season should be sent to the local government department, he said.
