Punjab Government and World Bank Launch Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project in 16 Districts

RAHIM YAR KHAN: In collaboration with the World Bank (WB), the Punjab government has launched the Punjab Rural Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Project in 16 districts across the province.

The project aims to improve rural areas’ access to clean water and sanitation facilities.

Project’s Tehsil Manager Jamil Ahmed Khan stated that all relevant Mouzas in each tehsil had been requested to coordinate with local authorities to secure suitable state or private land for the project.

As per the details, Liaqatpur Tehsil in Rahim Yar Khan has been selected as the initial tehsil for implementing the Punjab Rural Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Project and the Solid Waste Management Project.

The projects will be carried out through the combined efforts of the district administration, Punjab Rural Municipal Services Company, and the local government and community development department.

It is important to note that the project’s first phase will focus on 20 Mauzas, with tenders already released for work in six villages and the remaining tenders expected to be launched soon.

Official proposals for acquiring state land for both phases of the project have been submitted to the relevant departments.
