RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has allocated PKR 1.46 billion to two significant projects in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
The projects include the remodeling of Kutchery Chowk and the Rawalpindi Ring Road, however, the funds for Leh Expressway and Flood Channel are still on hold.
The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General, Saif Anwar Jappa, announced that the funds had been released for the two ongoing projects, which would soon begin.
The sources confirmed that the RDA had completed its homework for the implementation of the projects, and after consulting with stakeholders, the projects would begin.
Jappa noted that the Kutchery Chowk remodeling and the Rawalpindi Ring Road projects were launched to improve public welfare and end traffic congestion in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, without any political motivation.
Furthermore, RDA would seek permission from the Election Commission of Pakistan to begin the projects, and after getting the green signal, they would start.
The Ring Road project would establish economic zones along the artery, and international firms would be invited to propose an optimal route for the road, the details suggest.
Besides, the Kutchery Chowk remodeling project would start soon, and the Frontier Works Organisation had been asked to submit a traffic plan.
Additionally, the land acquisition for the project would be initiated, and the government had been requested to provide the state land to the RDA.
The RDA director-general said that the Leh Expressway and Flood Channel projects would be included in the annual development program of the Punjab government in the next fiscal year.
