QAU Gives 24-Hour Ultimatum to Residents to Vacate Illegally Occupied Land

ISLAMABAD: The administration of Quaid-e-Azam University has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to residents who have illegally occupied land, demanding that they vacate it by March 14 or face an operation.

The university claims that the land has been demarcated by the Survey of Pakistan and approved by the Capital Development Authority. However, residents argue that they have been living in the area for decades and own the land, citing documentary evidence from the CDA.

The university has sent notices to 41 houses, and more notices are expected in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the university administration has directed MPhil and Ph.D. scholars to collect their belongings from the hostels two weeks after being evicted. The hostel rooms will be allotted to BS students.

The scholars have criticized this move, stating that the university is a research institute, and the eviction of MPhil and Ph.D. scholars from hostels to accommodate BS students is a betrayal of the scholars and the education system.

The university has also introduced new hostel policies for male and female students seeking admission.
