RDA Hikes Water Bowser Rates by 70%

RAWALPINDI: The Water and Sanitation Agency’s (WASA) official prices for water tankers have been raised with the approval of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) regulatory body.

According to the details, the regulatory body of the organization headed by RDA Tariq Mahmood Murtaza was informed that WASA still had a deficit because of numerous expenses.

Furthermore, due to rising power and petroleum product prices, the meeting agreed on an increase in the price of water tankers.

Besides, the WASA was also informed that it was having difficulty paying the salaries and electricity costs for the tube wells.

To cover its rising expenses, WASA informed the attendees that it was inevitable to raise the rates for water tankers.

The price increase for household water tankers from Rs. 600 to Rs. 1,000 was agreed upon at the RDA meeting while the price increase from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,500 for commercial water tankers was also authorized.

The RDA also permitted WASA to charge tankers filling up 1,000 liters of water from WASA-operated filling stations Rs. 500 rather than Rs. 350.
