RAWALPINDI: The Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), under the direction of Director General Mohammad Saif Anwar Jappa, has carried out an operation against unauthorized and illegal commercial structures and sealed 40 shops on Girja Road and Chakra Road Rawalpindi.
The officials said that the owners had built illegal commercial structures without permission and No Objection Certificates (NOCs), in violation of approved plans and maps, the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976, and RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2021.
The details also informed that a “Mushtri Hoshiar Bash” advertisement upon DG’s request was posted at the appropriate forums in accordance with the Punjab Land Use and Classification Rules 2021 prior to the operation.
The erected building will be dismantled and sealed unless commercialization fees are paid, which are lowered by 50%, according to the advertisement.
The owners of these illegal commercial buildings were given 2 weeks to regularize their structures and submit the approved maps adding that these structures would be sealed again and first information reports (FIRs) would be filed if they were not regularised within two weeks.
The DG RDA also ordered the LU&BC Wing to act firmly and without hesitation against unauthorized or unlawful residential-commercial buildings and encroachments.
Furthermore, he advised the general public to exercise moral restraint and get rid of any intrusion that they can.
