ISLAMABAD: The biggest mafia in Pakistan, according to the former prime minister Imran Khan, is the real estate industry because it snatches up public land, sells it to the common public, and then sends the money abroad.
As per the details, Mr. Khan delivered a video link address to a seminar, saying, “You can’t imagine how powerful these (real estate) mafias are.”
Khan went on to say that the PTI administration ordered cadastral mapping, which displays land records and boundaries in digital form, which revealed that the land mafia had encroached on land worth Rs. 1.2 trillion in Islamabad alone.
“We wanted to use technology to raise taxes, but the people inside didn’t want that,” Imran emphasized.
Furthermore, Imran proposed a number of solutions to improve the prevailing economic condition, adding that, all stakeholders must concentrate on bringing money inside the country as 10 million Pakistanis residing abroad ought to be given investment opportunities.
Additionally, the former premier also stated that multiple economic sectors, including tourism, had a lot of potential to steer the country in the right direction.
