Repair of Johar Town Sinkhole May Take Days: LDA

LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has announced that repairing the sinkhole on Johar Town’s main boulevard might take a couple of days.

According to the sources, the main road has been blocked for traffic since Feb 10.

The area was handed over to the LDA engineering team after replacing the broken part of the main sewerage line and draining the accumulated sewage water.

According to the LDA Director (Engineering Wing-1), Usman Manzoor, work has been ongoing round the clock at the site.

Furthermore, the affected portion’s soil compaction was completed, and crushed stone sub-layers will be laid before reopening the road.

The details suggest that commuters are experiencing traffic congestion and travel delays.

A motorist stated that it takes 10 to 15 minutes to reach Shaukat Khanum or enter the Khayaban-e-Jinnah through the flyover due to the entire traffic being diverted to the service road because of repair and maintenance work.

It is to mention here that a deep sinkhole had broken out on Johar Town’s main boulevard near Shadiwal Chowk due to the rupture of a sewer line.
