Residents Allege Land Mafia’s Attempts to Illegally Seize Mehran Town Property

KARACHI: In a recent development, the residents of Mehran Town, located in Karachi’s Korangi area, have raised serious concerns about the land mafia’s aggressive attempts to occupy their properties.

Several residents have reported that the land mafia has been demolishing their houses and manipulating land ownership documents for illegal gains.

A distressed woman revealed that she and her fellow residents have been living in the area for the past 18 years without any claims of land ownership.

However, the situation has taken a dangerous turn as the land mafia has intensified its activities, selling land to various parties and pocketing significant profits.

The situation turned violent when the woman’s house was attacked by the goons of the land mafia while she was away on duty.

Furthermore, her daughter was subjected to torture, and the goons forcefully dragged her by her hair.

The affected residents are now left homeless, forced to live under the open sky with their children for the past 3 to 4 days.

Another resident shared that they possess proper documentation for their houses in Mehran Town, but the land mafia is relentlessly trying to seize their land.

Adding to their plight, a man revealed that in 2017, Kashif Khan and his brother, both sons of a retired sub-inspector, manipulated transfer documents in back-dates to illegally take over their land.

In the face of these circumstances, the victims are urgently appealing to the authorities to take swift action against the land mafia and protect their rights and properties.

Besides, they also seek justice and a resolution to the growing land encroachment problem in their community.
