SBCA to Demolish Dangerous Buildings in Karachi

With the emergence of heavy monsoon rainfall, a threat to the buildings that are already dilapidated has increased. Therefore, these buildings are being evacuated and will be demolished by the Sindh Building Control Authority and the Administrative District.

Recent rainfalls have made it difficult for many people to travel within the city as floods took over the streets and main roads. Many parts of the city had witnessed rain up to 126 mm in just 3 hours on the weekend.

These heavy rains have spread fear that the buildings which are old and in bad condition may tumble down due to the water that is slowly weakening their weak foundations.

The operation is being carried out under the guidance of SBCA and the citizens residing in these buildings are requested to cooperate with the authorities.

Furthermore, there are more than 400 buildings that are over 70 years and are in a bad shape.

The Director General SBCA has canceled the leaves of all the employees and has also imposed a rain emergency in the city.

A demolition squad is also on red alert for emergency demolitions.
