Security Breach at LDA Head Office Raises Concerns

LAHORE: A significant security breach was reported at the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) head office on Wednesday. Individuals involved in a criminal case under the Anti-Terrorism Act attempted to surround Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The incident transpired shortly after Chief Minister Naqvi concluded his visit to the LDA’s One Window Cell. As he was about to depart, he was surrounded by a group, including those accused of assaulting police, LDA officials, and causing damage to government vehicles during a recent operation against illegal land divisions in LDA City Housing Scheme.

Ignoring the aggressors, the Chief Minister promptly left the scene. The group then began protesting against LDA’s senior management, leading to altercations with LDA security personnel and threats to obstruct the main road. While police intervention ensured the situation didn’t escalate, several accused individuals managed to flee, highlighting the security lapses at the LDA office.

This isn’t the first time the LDA office has faced security issues. In previous incidents, lawyers forcefully entered the LDA premises, assaulting staff members. Such occurrences have raised questions about the safety protocols in place.

During his visit, Chief Minister Naqvi was informed about the presence of unauthorized individuals and agents in various LDA departments. He subsequently instructed DG LDA and Commissioner Lahore, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, to address the issue.

Several citizens also approached the Chief Minister with complaints against Mansha Bomb and his sons, accusing them of land encroachment, especially on prime LDA property on PIA Road.

In response, Chief Minister Naqvi summoned CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, directing immediate action against Mansha Bomb and urging the LDA to reclaim its land. He reassured the public of stringent measures against all land mafias in the city and advised them to liaise with CCPO Lahore for further assistance.

Addressing the security concerns at the LDA office, Director DG Cell, LDA, Asif Hussain stated that he has instructed the Chief Security Officer of LDA, Capt (retd) Faraz, to file an official report regarding the incident.
