SHC Summons FWO Official Over Encroachment of North Nazimabad Park

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has summoned a Frontier Works Organization (FWO) official to appear before the court and submit a compliance report about the removal of concrete batching plants that have occupied a public park in North Nazimabad.

A petition filed last year alleged that the FWO installed batching plants and dumped construction material in the park.

The FWO’s lawyer previously informed the court that the organization would vacate the park by the first week of March, but the plants remain.

Moreover, the court has given the FWO project director until May 11 to comply with the court’s order.

The court also warned of “appropriate action” for non-compliance. The FWO has been asked to maintain the park during the removal of the machinery.

It is relevant to note that the case was filed by area residents who have accused the FWO of violating their fundamental rights.
