WASA Introduces Comprehensive Plan to Address Monsoon Flooding in Lahore

LAHORE: The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has revealed its comprehensive ‘Monsoon Operational Plan’ to address the potential threat of flooding in low-lying areas near Nullah Leh and other major drains during the ongoing monsoon season.

Under this plan, Wasa will collaborate with the armed forces and other institutions to assist in heavy rainfall.

Furthermore, the plan includes relief efforts to rescue affected individuals and effectively drain water from vulnerable areas.

To ensure swift support for the public during unexpected rains, Wasa has also established 4 complaint centers and a flood control room. These facilities will address public grievances and respond promptly to their needs.

In addition, the preparations for the monsoon season also involve the desilting of Nullah Leh and the activation of alarm systems to monitor rising water levels.

Moreover, evacuation procedures will be implemented based on the water levels in Nullah Leh and the potential for water intrusion.

He stated that the control room and complaint centers will address residents’ concerns and provide the required assistance.
