KARACHI: According to the spokesperson of Chief Minister Sindh, the World Bank would lend $500 million for the construction of houses for the flood victims.
As per the details, a 13-member World Bank team that included the heads of the organization’s several sectors met Murad Ali Shah in Karachi to discuss the roadmap for rehabilitation.
The CM stated that 268 roads needed to be repaired from the assistance provided by the World Bank while the government also aimed to install solar system provisions in the new houses for flood victims.
Murad also added that the winter season had already set in, and that he wanted to immediately begin rebuilding the houses that were destroyed in flood-affected areas.
The World Bank’s country director, in this regard, announced that money would soon be made available for the housing project.
Besides, the World Bank and the government of Sindh, during the meeting, also decided to launch the initiative to survey property taxes, beginning from Karachi.
