Eligible voters will soon be able verify the status of their votes in the new computerized voter lists prepared by Election Commission of Pakistan by just sending an via mobile phones from anywhere, any time across the country, reported Daily Times citing an official of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
This long awaited service is going to see the light of the day on March 1st, 2012, said the report. After the service is launched, registered voters would be able to check the status of their votes and particulars through short messaging services (SMS).
How to check Vote Status:
- SMS your CNIC to 8300
- You will get a reply with your vote status
- Service Charges: Rs. 2 plus tax
Details suggest that sending an SMS with Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number to 8300 will subsequently receive a message of around 160 characters in Urdu.
It will have the name, village/city, tehsil and district of the particular voter, location (electoral area) and serial number of vote registered in the preliminary electoral rolls.
The house number of voters will be kept confidential to ensure privacy and avoid misuse of the service.
After the introduction of the new service, it would be the responsibility of every eligible voter to make sure that his/her vote had been registered and to report any discrepancy to the ECP, said the media report.

No excuses now, a long awaited service. A good step forward.
It seems that some change is bound to come ,INSHALLAH. May Allah bless us all and the filth of the society is removed.
At the same time I am requesting EC to remove the Rs 2/for service charges. It should be free of charge. At least this 1st Election of of New Election Commission which is claimed by the Govt that will be conducted by Impartial EC and acceptable by all parties. M. Tahir Naimi

“Election Commission of Pakistan by just sending an via mobile phones” an sms or there is something else to send :-/ :P
It would be nice if they wouldn’t charge Rs. 2 per verification. Although for many, this is not a significant amount, but for others who load Rs. 20 and use it for the whole month, it is. This service should be offered free of charge so everyone can verify their Voter Registration Status.
In additional, same information should be made available on http://www.ecp.gov.pk/ where users can search their Voter Registration Status.
i haven’t found there.. write the full procedure plz..
Its not vote checking I hope, its voters list verification. It should be free not with

hey guys i came here to ask something important.. I am a resident of karachi.. my previous registration was somewhere in other town.. since I shifted from that place to new town, in an appartment on rental basis.. I did not fill out out any enrolment form.. neither of my family did so, nor we gave our CNIC to anyone.. I checked my enrolment through sms on 8300.. my new address came up on screen… how’s it possible? is it something automatic service from Election Commission.. I am curious, lest my vote gets casted itself.. like the way it got registered automatically.. please let me know.. I am not aware of any site or forum to see the criteria for confirming Election Commission’s features.. regards!
