Punjab Women Students to Get E-Bikes for Rs. 2,100 Per Month

The Punjab government has announced a special financial relief package for women students under its electric bike (e-bike) scheme, with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz deciding that the government will pay their down payment and registration fee.

The announcement was made during a meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department chaired by the chief minister as part of the province’s green transport initiative.

Under the scheme, women students will only have to pay an interest free monthly installment of Rs. 2,100 to obtain an e-bike. The government will bear the cost of the required down payment and registration fee, significantly reducing the upfront financial burden on students.

The decision is aimed at encouraging greater participation of women students in the e-bike program by making ownership more affordable and accessible.

During the meeting, the chief minister also approved the expansion of the provincial e-bike scheme, under which 100,000 e-bikes will be distributed to students within one year with a subsidy of Rs. 70,000 per bike.
