Ishaq Dar Indicted by Accountability Court

Accountability Court has indicted Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in a reference filed by NAB in light of the Supreme Court’s Panama Papers judgement.

According to details, the Accountability Court heard the reference against the finance minister for acquiring assets beyond his known sources of income.

Senior Judge Muhammad Basheer read out the charges which were denied by Ishaq Dar. “I am innocent and had not committed the crimes,” he told the court.

It is the second time that the finance minister appeared before the accountability court today.

Dar submitted a surety bond of Rs. 5 million which means he will not be arrested until the court’s final decision.

Accountability Court had summoned Dar for the hearing and now a trial will be started against him after he is indicted.

The officials stopped media representatives from entering the court premises and the gates were also closed.

Sources claim that the finance minister will be taken inside the court via back door of the building.

It is pertinent to mention that this is the fourth hearing of the reference regarding Dar’s assets beyond means of income.

The court, in a previous hearing on 25th September, had issued the reference consisting of 23 volumes.
