A flydubai flight from Dubai to Dhaka was forced to make an emergency landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport late Thursday night after a female passenger’s health deteriorated mid-flight, aviation authorities confirmed.
The Boeing 737, operating as flight FZ 501, was en route from Dubai International Airport to Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport when the incident occurred. According to aviation sources, the Bangladeshi passenger fell seriously ill while the aircraft was in Indian airspace. The nature of her condition has not been disclosed, but it was severe enough to prompt immediate action from the flight crew.
The captain contacted the air traffic controller at Jinnah International Airport, the nearest major airport, requesting permission for an emergency landing on humanitarian grounds. The request was promptly granted, and the aircraft touched down safely in Karachi. A medical team from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) was on standby and boarded the plane upon arrival to provide urgent care.
Despite initial efforts to stabilize the passenger at the airport, her condition worsened, necessitating further treatment. She was swiftly transferred to a private hospital in Karachi for advanced medical attention. No updates on her current condition have been released by authorities or the airline.
