TeleCON 2010 to be Held on April 24th

The third Global Telecommunication Congress 2010 (TeleCON 2010), being held on April 24 in Lahore, will feature a special panel discussion on “Technology choices and infrastructure challenges”, according to a statement issued.

Representatives from key telecom companies and technology experts will participate in the congress, it said.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Mohammad Yaseen will deliver the keynote address and inaugurate the TeleCON-2010, while Higher Education Commission (HEC) Executive Director Prof Sohail Naqvi will deliver the opening remarks.

The panel discussion will be chaired by Prof Dr Naveed A Malik, Rector, Virtual University of Pakistan.

The panelists will include technology and management experts from Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia-Siemens, Ericsson, Ufone, Telenor, Mobilink, PTCL, ZONG and Wi-tribe, with an active question and answer session.

The theme of the annual conference is “Taking Pakistan to the next level of technology frontiers”. The first session on “Investments in the telecom sector & today’s business model” will be chaired by Naquibullah Malik, Secretary, IT and Telecom, whereas the second session on “Corporate social responsibility and good governance practices” will be moderated by Dr Jawaid Ghani, Chairman, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).

“The telecom sector in Pakistan is at the crossroads. It has a great potential for future growth both in terms of new technology deployment and value-added services for the consumers.
