Windows 7’s magic:

Win-7 is by-far the best OS Microsoft has come up with. This laptop is preloaded with Win-7 instead of Vista (which is still pre-installed in some systems). Windows 7 is strongly recommended for anyone who is deciding to buy a laptop in near future. Unlike Vista, it wouldn’t hang your laptop all the time and you would not have to care about making a backup of your data every week. Windows-7 is a big YES feature for this laptop.

Easy typing along with elegant looks:

The keyboard of this system has flat keys which can be very appealing to people who type a lot. So if you are a student who types a lot, a corporate worker or an avid blogger, this is the machine for you. Another thing that I have personal experience with, is that compared to other brands out there, HP keyboards are less prone to damage by dust or usage.

The touch based volume and other controls also add elegance as well as ease to the system.

Sounds good!!”:

This laptop’s sound quality is better than other laptops in the same range. Earlier Pavilions had some issues due to low volume but this system has pretty good volume even at high levels and does not produce the dreaded torn-drum sound.

Its internal sound controls also support different speakers than those of built-in, in case you are hoping to connect some other speakers. It also has a detailed control panel for bass, treble, system loudness and room size equalizer.

Finger Print Reader:

It has a finger print reader that can also manage you logins for different websites and messengers. This is especially convenient when you don’t want the messenger to remember your password because of privacy and you also don’t like typing it every single time.

The only drawback of this feature is that it can remember the site logins only if you are using Internet Explorer.

Gaming gone bad:

This machine lacks a good gaming card. I have played heavy games on INTEL cards and they are very low in performance. There are many features in newer games that you are missing because of the poor card being used. There is an option to upgrade the card by the company itself but it will of course cost you good.

No Pre-Installed Software:

This laptop comes with no pre-installed software. Even older versions of HP have a 30 or 60 day subscription for Norton and latest Microsoft office but you don’t get those in this system.

This is especially a disappointment because most companies do provide their users with legal copies of many software or at least trial versions.

All that shines can get dirty:

The surface of this laptop is glossy. Apparently it will look good but the beauty is lost when you start touching it. It will be full of your finger prints in just an hour.

This is a problem that has been haunting Pavilion users for too long now. It ruins the beauty of the machine and makes it look a little dirty.

Recovery Discs:

There are no recovery discs given with the system. However there is a recovery drive already partitioned in the system. But external recovery discs could have been useful if you messed up big time.

Heating Issues:

Some users have faced heating issues with this laptop. It is certainly not known that this issue was found with a certain manufactured lot or this problem is with all the systems.

A good tip to avoid it is keep the laptop on a hard surface rather than a bed, sofa or even your lap.

Official Rating: 4.3/5

Underline:

It is excellent for office work as well as regular entertainment without a hefty price tag but if you are a hardcore gamer, customize it and go for a better graphics card.
