Arguably, one of many things that connects people based in the beautiful valleys of Kashmir to those based around the beaches of Gwadar is Urdu language. However, many are under the impression that the language lags behind when it comes to keeping up with the latest standards and technology.
In order to eradicate such misconceptions and promote the success of Urdu language, Karachi University has joined hands with Urdu Source to bring us the first international Urdu Social Media Summit.
Amir Malik, the cofounder of the recently announced Urdu Social Media Service at Karachi University, explained the idea behind such a summit. He said that the primary aim of such an event is to bring experts and scholars from various fields under one roof in order to promote Urdu language.
Thus, all those belonging to fields of education, E-commerce, entertainment, technology, economics, literature and social media will share their experiences and help discover new ways to promote the language. In addition, they will explore the possibilities of expanding the language further to keep it relevant and in line with the latest development of standards and advancements in technology.
The summit will provide a platform for all attendees to present their innovative ideas or new products they may have developed to experts in that field. A dedicated panel of E-commerce experts will offer tips on how you can utilize social media to promote your business. Given that a number of renowned poets, artists and hosts will be present, this is a chance for the selfie crazed to do what they do best.
Experts in social media will also shed light upon the role of social media in bringing positive chanes to the society. Expect healthy discussions on the present state of social media in Pakistan and how it is expected to affect the future. Finally, there will be awards for those who have significantly contributed to and positively utilized social media for the greater good.
Urdu Social Media Summit has been scheduled to be held on May 8, 2015.
It is due to be held in HEJ Auditorium, University of Karachi.
