It’s not only young professionals and students who are hoping to ride this wave of entrepreneurship in Pakistan; meet Sohaib Mustafa, a veteran at Mobilink, who has quit his day job to join his startup as a co-founder.
Sohaib Mustafa is a Communications, PR and Digital Media professional with years of experience with industries including Media, Telecommunication, Technology, Shipping Line and Real Estate. His forte being communications made him a perfect fit for the fast paced telecom industry in Pakistan.
He joined the industry back in 2008 when he started working with Telenor. After 4 years of service and learning from a culturally sound organization he took up the challenge when he made a lateral move to Mobilink and went up to being promoted as Manager Corporate Communications, where he managed internal and external communications functions for the company.
However, now he has quit his lucrative day job to put his efforts behind his own startup called “Wordsmith” that provides an end to end marketing and communication solutions, with service offerings including Content Development, Public Relations & Communications, Events and Activations, Internal Communication Campaigns, Interactive Design & Creatives and Digital Media.
You can read more about Wordsmith here.
We talked with Sohaib and here’s what he had to say:
My journey in the telecom industry really has been a roller-coaster ride. I have been fortunate enough to work with Syed Hasnat Masood, the first Director Comms at Telenor with a wonderful team and manager in form of Areej Khan and Affan Haider and of course the charismatic Anjum Rahman.
Later I moved into a very challenging role under the mentorship of Omar Manzur from whom I learnt a lot.
I am glad that my 7 years in the Telecom Sector ended with the biggest ever project in the industry that of Mobilink Warid merger. I thank team Mobilink for their support and I wish all the success to them and the industry.
