Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) conducted the largest ever analysis and ranking of universities in Asia which included the top universities in Asia. Out of the several hundred universities in Pakistan, just ten made it into the rankings of top Asian universities with none breaking the top 100.
These findings offer more insight into the woefully inadequate level of higher education in Pakistan presently.
QS takes a look at global education trends. It releases its findings after taking into account various factors that impact the quality of education offered in universities worldwide. Their recent rankings take a look at the top 350 universities from Asia.
These are the Pakistani universities that made it to the top 350 rankings from QS:
LUMS was ranked the best university in Pakistan, after a 50 place jump from last year’s rankings. It surpassed 4 other Pakistani universities this time. According to QS, it is now ranked 111th in Asia overall.
NUST in Islamabad is ranked as the second best university in Pakistan which jumped from 116th place last year to 112th place this year.
Quaid-e-Azam University however went down from 116th to 149th place and is now the third highest ranked university in Pakistan.
The QS rankings have expanded to include 350 of the best universities in Asia, up from 300 last year. Their evaluation techniques have also seen some changes, including consideration of staff with PhD’s in the teaching quality analysis.
