Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has suspended the license of Nickelodeon, a US based satellite channel that targets kids and youth.
PEMRA, in a statement issued moments ago, said that license was suspended, with immediate effect, due to violation of authority order in which it had directed channels to not to show Indian content in Pakistan after October 21st, 2016.
PEMRA said that despite warnings, Nickelodeon kept showing Indian content for several days and now its landing rights in Pakistan have been suspended.
PEMRA said that it will continue to monitor satellite channels in Pakistan and any violations — particularly for showing Indian content — will be dealt severely.
PEMRA said that suspension of Nickelodeon has been communicated to all distribution networks.
