Air India Crew Shamed for Sneaking Buffet Food from London Hotel

The international crew of India’s national airlines, Air India, have been publicly shamed by a London hotel for sneaking away with stuffing empty lunch boxes with buffet food.

Hotel Renaissance in London said, “Some AI crew members regularly come down for breakfast with empty boxes into which they fill food items from the buffet, presumably to eat later”.

The public rebuke resulted in an Air India official sending a company wide memo to attendants stressing that buffet food is not the same as a takeaway and action would be taken against anyone found treating it as such.

In defence of the crew, some have said that the short duration of the layover in London and limited allowance to spend on food and room service meant that some Air India staff resorted to sneaking food out of buffet to eat later.

As usual, Twitter was aflame with people calling out Air India while others called for a more restrained perspective.
