Overseas Pakistanis Remit $11 billion in First Seven Months of FY17

Overseas Pakistani workers remitted US$10,946.38 million in first seven months (July to January) of FY17, down from US$11,154.72 million received during the same period in the preceding year.

During January 2017, the inflow of worker’s remittances amounted to US$1,487.72 million, which is 6.0% lower than December 2016 and 1.45% higher than January 2016.

The country wise details for the month of January 2017 are as following:

  • Saudi Arabia: US$434.15 million (compared to US$463.44 million in Jan 2016)
  • UAE: US$323.11 million (compared to US$314.4 million in Jan 2016)
  • USA: US$175.01 million (compared to US$168.94 million in Jan 2016)
  • UK: US$180.91 million: (compared to US$174.48 million in Jan 2016)
  • GCC countries (including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman): US$186.41 million (compared to US$192.10 million in Jan 2016)
  • EU countries: US$31.69 million (compared to US$31.94 million in Jan 2016)

Remittances received from Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Japan and other countries during January 2017 amounted to US$156.44 million together as against US$121.08 million received in January 2016.
