Overseas Pakistani workers remitted US$10,946.38 million in first seven months (July to January) of FY17, down from US$11,154.72 million received during the same period in the preceding year.
During January 2017, the inflow of worker’s remittances amounted to US$1,487.72 million, which is 6.0% lower than December 2016 and 1.45% higher than January 2016.
The country wise details for the month of January 2017 are as following:
- Saudi Arabia: US$434.15 million (compared to US$463.44 million in Jan 2016)
- UAE: US$323.11 million (compared to US$314.4 million in Jan 2016)
- USA: US$175.01 million (compared to US$168.94 million in Jan 2016)
- UK: US$180.91 million: (compared to US$174.48 million in Jan 2016)
- GCC countries (including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman): US$186.41 million (compared to US$192.10 million in Jan 2016)
- EU countries: US$31.69 million (compared to US$31.94 million in Jan 2016)
Remittances received from Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Japan and other countries during January 2017 amounted to US$156.44 million together as against US$121.08 million received in January 2016.

Money sent by majority of Pakistanis are through hundi & hawala specially from KPK in majority prefer using these illegal ways sending billions everyday to families. Directly or indirectly they became channels of transfer of black money or finances to terrorists. Such heavens are openly doing business in Taank, Bannu, Kohat, Peshawar Qissa Khawani Bazar. It is also very common in Karachi. 90% of labor class working overseas uses these channels for sending remittances.
Thats a big percentage that ur talking about, dont think its that much high though
Being an overseas Pakistani I ask this question to hundreds of Pakistanis every month and they laugh and respond with latest rate of hundi. If on airports customs starts asking overseas Pakistanis to prove proof of remittance transfers then even those who lived overseas for 20+ years will not be able to provide any proof.
On hundi you get only 6.5% extra. Trust me you will not see Pakistanis on money exchanges for remittance transfers, only Indians, Bengalis, other nationalities. This shows how loyal we are to our country.
People has not faith on Govt. they know all money will spend on”Ayashi”. If people of Pakistan’s money spent on their welfare then why poor patient died on floor of Sarkari Hospitals????. What about Law and order satiation in Pakistan???. No one feel save here. In Jati Umra ( Nawaz sharef home ) 3500 Police men serving for 37 Peoples. You can estimate the salaries of 3500 Police men + fuel of vehicles + etc.
