Huawei, specifically its sub brand Honor, held an event today, announcing a couple of tablets as well as a new phone, the Honor 6A. Like the tablets, the phone is priced accordingly for the low end/budget category, with features that reflect that price point.
The Huawei Honor 6A will be available in China from June 1st for CNY 800 (~Rs. 12,000) for the 2 GB/16 GB model and CNY 1,000 (Rs. 15,000) for the 3 GB/32 GB version.
There’s no word yet on when the phone will come to Pakistan.
Starting from the design, it seems evident that the phone belongs in the low end category. The front design looks like something out of 2013, with a very minimalist look. Up front you have a 5″ HD IPS LCD (1280 x 720) display, which is another staple for phones in this price range. There’s an earpiece on the top flanked by the proximity sensor and the front camera.
The Honor 6A sports a metal back which is a nice touch. There is the fingerprint sensor underneath the camera and the LED flash.
On the inside the Honor 6A features an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. It comes in 2 different versions with 2 GB RAM and 16 storage or 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. For the OS you get Android 7.0 Nougat with Huawei’s EMUI 5.1 skin on top.
It’s a dual SIM phone by default.
For the primary camera, the Honor 6A uses a 13 MP sensor 28mm sensor with Phase Detection Autofocus and an LED flash. On the front it has a 5 MP shooter.
A 3,020 mAh battery powers the phone, offering 12 hours of continuous video playback. With a 5 inch 720p display and a Snapdragon 430, the Honor 6A will easily last you through a couple of days of medium usage.
