Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met senior Boeing officials in Washington on Thursday to advance Pakistan International Airlines’ plans to acquire 16 new aircraft as part of the airline’s fleet modernization program.
Naqvi visited Boeing’s headquarters, where he held talks with Boeing Global President Brendan Nelson. The meeting was also attended by PIA’s new management, highlighting the government’s efforts to revitalize the national carrier.
During the discussions, both sides reviewed different aircraft acquisition options and explored commercial arrangements aimed at securing the best deal for PIA. Officials said the talks resulted in significant progress, with both parties agreeing to move quickly toward finalizing the agreement.
Naqvi thanked Nelson for assuring Boeing’s full cooperation in accelerating the procurement process. He also commended the company’s leadership in the global aviation industry and its longstanding contribution to aircraft manufacturing.
The planned purchase of 16 aircraft is expected to strengthen PIA’s fleet, expand its operational capabilities and improve services for passengers.
